We enjoyed our stay at A Cottage & Castle Bed & Breakfast. The house is an older Victorian style home, beautifully decorated with lots of neat items to explore. The Host is wonderful, she went out of our way to accommodate our breakfast wishes, was pleasant and provided us privacy.

The location is walking distance to a great Thai restaurant, coffee shops and old town.

I recommend A Cottage & Castle Bed & Breakfast to anyone who would like a quiet, romantic (or non-romantic), beautiful stay in Chemainus.

Stayed in the Castle suite with my dog. It was absolutely magical. Stayed for 2 nights of R&R. Exactly like pictures and more. Quiet location and steps to the beach. The tub was great and bed was comfy! I highly recommend.

This is a lovely B&B with all the comforts you want and the elegance and attention to detail that you hope for! My husband and I plus a friend enjoyed our 2 night stay in Chemainus and were totally pleased that we chose this venue. Highly recommended if you like classic charm, comfortable and well appointed rooms and a delicious breakfast - all conveniently located close to all the area has to offer.

We had a wonderful time at this delightful and beautiful B&B. We loved our room on the 2nd floor with the 2 dormer windows you see in the photo. The bed was super comfortable and we loved sitting on the day bed with the ocean view. Our favourite spot was on the front porch, with its multiple seating areas, admiring the garden, listening to the crickets and watching the world go by. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful at the gorgeous live edge dining table and our hostess was friendly, kind and very attentive to detail. THANK YOU for the perfect weekend! P.S. The three words that come to mind as I write this review are charm and comfort and graciousness. This B&B is clean, comfortable and well maintained. The atmosphere is welcoming. The host (owner) is a delightful enterprising young woman who is working hard to meet your needs. There are three rooms in the main cottage. Upstairs are the Cowichan room which is spacious, airy and probably the most popular. The other room upstairs has an ocean view that is relaxing, but the room is just a touch smaller. The garden room is on the main level and may be the smallest of the three. But we stayed there and found it quite comfortable for our two night stay. The castle is a separate building and is located upstairs (downstairs is a hair salon -- the host is also a hairdresser!). The castle room is a very large suite with a medieval decor. It is grand. Breakfast was served at 9 AM (which suited us perfectly) but the host made a nice pot of coffee that was ready for guests about an hour earlier. That made us happy also. There is a fabulous theater and lots of talent available at the Chemainus Theater (we saw Dolly Parton's 9 to 5 and it was a terrific romp!). So we will be back and will definitely book a room at the Cottage and Castle (which is within easy walking distance of the theater AND the beach!)

Upon arrival, the check-in process felt a bit awkward with the owner. We introduced ourselves, but she didn’t introduce herself and immediately began the tour and took us to our room. We mentioned that my partner doesn’t eat pork and that we needed to leave early on our last day (around 7:45/8am), and she said she would see what she could do.||The rooms were comfortable, the AC worked well, and the location is fantastic—very close to the beach and Chemainus town. However, at breakfast the next day, she informed us that only pork sausages and crepes were available. My partner had two crepes but felt unsatisfied. No eggs, baked goods, fruits, or other breakfast options offered. ||On our final night, she told us she wouldn’t be able to provide breakfast and could only leave bananas and coffee. We didn't know what to say so we said that was fine, but to be honest, it made us quite upset. Given the price we paid for a B&B, we expected more. If she couldn’t provide a hot breakfast, we would have appreciated baked goods or something similar, not just 2 bananas. ||For a B&B, this was a disappointing experience and wish we had stayed elsewhere.

We stayed in the castle part of the Cottage and Castle. It was so lovely. The room is a bit chilly, but the bed is soft and warm. Each morning Christina would drop off a basket full of wonderful breakfast. It is an easy walk to the water and the town. It was perfect.

The cottage and castle is one of the most unique places we have ever been The bedrooms were Immaculate. Christine was an amazing host and breakfast was a delight.
We definitely recommend this to any traveler and we'll be back soon.
