We came for lunch to celebrate a birthday. There is plenty of free street parking around the establishment and there is a free parking lot in the rear as well. There are multiple ramps through out the restaurant and around it. When you walk through the front door there are menus on the wall in holders you order your food and beverages at the front desk and they give you a number that you take with you. They have glass soda bottles that you order at the front. As you walk through the restaurant they have plenty of decor on the walls and near the rear is the bar area where you can order mixed cocktails or beer. They have a salsa bar that you can help yourself too and a water area with ice dispenser that you can help yourself too. When your food is ready a runner brings it out to you according to your number you got from the front. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and guacamole was amazing and had a slight spice to it.

I actually quite didn’t like my experience. Two tacos and a margarita was $18. No sides, no sauces given with the tacos. The meat was great tasting. But no queso fresco sprinkled no nothing? They were out of the ocean water so was suggested the passion fruit margarita, it was absolutely disgusting. Strong, but disgusting to the point where I hated drinking it. I don’t think I’d be back after my experience. Staff was nice, tacos came out quickly but just really bland and nothing to set this place apart.

El Taco is a fantastic restaurant in historic Downtown Denton! The food was absolutely delicious, and the pricing was fair. The best I could describe the food would be street taco style, but with higher quality and amazing flavor! I would highly suggest getting the taco plate or just buying tacos individually because they are all excellent, and you're gonna wanna try as many possible in one sitting. The staff are super friendly and accommodating even with the restaurant functioning differently than traditional table service. The environment is also quite an experience that truly makes this place 5 star. It's a family-friendly atmosphere with plenty of space, good views, and awesome art on the walls.

Pricing 💲💲

We had dinner at El Taco H Last night in downtown Denton. We have been a couple times before but not in quite awhile, probably our first time there this year. Overall it was a fantastic meal, the food was delicious, super flavorful and on point. Portions were generous, and we love the salsa bar. Their selection of salsas is excellent, they aren’t messing around. Their habanero salsa is delicious with an appropriate amount of spice. Their avocado salsa will getcha, it’s super spicy 🌶️ but delicious!

We had two taco plates which is 3 tacos with rice and beans and our son had the XL
Grande burrito 🌯 which is enormous to say the least. As you can see it nearly took up the whole tray!

For the taco plates we did Al Pastor, Barbacoa, Carnitas, and Birria. All were excellent, though they were a little greasy, not a complaint just an observation. The grease added flavor but if your anti-grease be warned. The grease was likely from the birria and barbacoa, so could avoid that if you order different tacos. I’m a huge fan of al pastor, and their Al pastor is excellent, did not disappoint. 🌮

The burrito had carne asada in it and was very good, definitely more than enough for one person and we took an entire 2nd half home for leftovers.

The rice was ok, not special but average.

The charro beans 🫘 on the other hand were fantastic! A real standout, tons of flavor. I’m not usually a one to eat the beans and will often ask for double rice instead but I loved these beans!

We also had a Sangria and Watermelon Agua Frescas. The sangria was delicious, the watermelon agua fresca was good but a little too sweet for my taste.

The only con and the only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. 💲💲 While the food was very good the price was a bit on the high side, I’d say worth it, but definitely something you need to be prepared for. The entire meal was $80 for 3 people.

Great taco place with great atmosphere! I had the chilaquiles & a Barbacoa taco. Chilaquiles were excellent- a little spicy but good. The taco had a good flavor but a little greasy. I will be back. Service was outstanding! Definitely recommend.

Yesterday was my first trip to El Taco, but it will not be my last! I had read a really nice review about your restaurant and how excellent the food was. So....I decided to give it a try. I was NOT disappointed!! The food was delicious!!! I had the barbacao taco plate with cilantro lime rice and charro beans. The meat was tender, sweet, and cooked to perfection! Incredible flavor!! The beautifully done rustic atmosphere of the dining area was warm, fun, and inviting as well! And, last but DEFINITELY not least, thank you for the wonderful customer service that I experienced!!!! The staff was very nice and accommodating. Even checking in with me at the table while I was dining to make sure everything was OK. It's nice to know, "Good Customer Service Still Exist"!!

Amazing tacos!!!! I’ve visited several times and every time the food has been exceptional!! I like to get the fresa agua fresca, so good!!! We also get the birria tacos and the consomé, followed by the 3 tacos platter and a side of elote. Everything is always cooked to perfection and authentically made. And the salsas are to die for! I highly recommend this taco place!

A few days ago my family and I ate here and immediately we felt very welcomed. We were a larger party so we were worried about a wait time but they were very happy to accommodate us and we didn’t have to wait at all. Our hostess, Bella was very friendly and made our experience truly enjoyable. What stood out the most was her positive attitude and willingness to help with any questions we had. I am very pleased with the food, and wonderful customer service. I look forward to my next visit, knowing that I'll be in good hands.
