Today I visited Immigrant Food for the first time and I was impressed with the incredible flavor of the Cuban sandwhich. The pickeled onions on the perfectly seasoned pork was absolutely delicious. The bread was buttery and flavorful. When I return I will be trying some of the other items for sure.

The only downside I would say is that the price is pretty high for the sandwich I got. I paid $17 for the sandwich which came with a small side salad. I don't mind paying more for delicious food but it certainly is not an everyday thing for the wallet. But if you are in the area I highly recommend you try it out.

A unique concept and decent food, but their extra “fees” make it hard to justify dining here. Immigrant Food, just steps away from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, offers a bit of everything. It took a while to be acknowledged when we arrived, but once seated, we received an explanation of the restaurant’s concept, which was a nice touch. I ordered the Old Saigon sandwich, their take on the Banh Mi, and it was decent, but nothing memorable.

However, the service slowed down towards the end of our visit, especially when it came time to get the bill. What left a sour taste was the 5% wellness (health insurance) charge added to the bill, which feels unnecessary, especially since the restaurant is already quite pricey. Additionally, there’s a mandatory 20% tip included for parties of four or more. Most places do this for six or more people, but four? That feels excessive. These charges make you question the restaurant’s real intentions—while I appreciate their mission, passing extra costs to customers feels a bit greedy and detracts from an otherwise enjoyable experience.

Great food and great staff. Excellent management. I made a mistake of ordering an entree, not realizing it had an item I was allergic to in it. When they realized this, they immediately said they would make me a fresh one. I told them it wasn't a big deal - but they insisted. This is a sign of top notch service and leadership. Their food is so tasty too! Love this place, it is my new "go to" for lunch.

Very fun restaurant near the White House, and very close to the new White House virtual museum. So cool to have food from all over the world, loved the menu options. Service is great and the restaurant has a great vibe, highly recommend!

The food, service and atmosphere was great. Food came out in a timely fashion. The West African Gumbo and the Havana both had great flavors. Highly recommend this secret jewel

Went for dinner prior to the Trevor Noah book read/interview at GW and lot of the local restaurants had no availability due to it being parents weekend. Managed to get in here and thankful for that. Small little place, was not very crowded at 7pm on Saturday. Cute vibe and an eclectic collection of food. The service was attentive and quick and good! Ordered the mezze platter - salty, bahn mi - a bit dry ish and salty, Greek chicken wings - a bit salty, and a Persian plate made vegan - tasty and salty. Ordered both the desserts on the menu and both good and good portions. Outdoor seating available too. Design flaw with the restroom opening into the dining area directly- can be a bit awkward….
