Great spot off Trade St. behind Carolina Beer Temple where the bike repair shop used to be. Great outdoor space with a lot of tables and a walk-up window so you don't even have to go inside to get a drink. They usually have live music outside. Bring your dog.

Was supposed to be meeting up with some friends here for a lowkey get together. I am 21 and my partner is about to be. She is visiting from out of town and we have never had a problem with going to other establishments with one of us being under 21. We walked in and immediately felt uncomfortable as it’s a small place and we made eye contact with all 4 patrons and the bartender. No one inquired about our age and so we headed in and seated ourselves and waited for our friends to arrive. It wasn’t until our first friend arrived, nearly 30 minutes after we did, that we were approached and asked to show ID. We were then told that the establishment was 21+ after 8pm. Although it’s worth noting we walked in at 8:15 and were not approached till 8:35. I asked if we needed to leave even though my partner was not going to drink. We were told that we “could sit here until it gets busy” but once more people arrived we would need to leave. This seemed strangely vague to me considering they were going to the length to ID us at the table (we had not ordered anything yet) but didn’t seem strong on enforcing the after 8pm rule. I understand if the bartender was just trying to be polite while we got our plans in order but my partner and I were both embarrassed and felt like it would have been much better to have been confronted at the door. We were very obviously much younger than the other patrons and I would have had no issue turning around and leaving if the age restriction was posted literally anywhere online, on the door, or just told to us as we walked in and made eye contact with the bartender. Instead we had time to find a table and chat for almost half an hour before being asked for ID. I understand that NC liquor laws are complex and a business is not to be faulted for trying to prevent underage drinking. But we had no way of knowing of this 8pm rule and I had not even ordered myself a drink yet, nor was I planning to do anything of the sort for my partner. There are other places in Matthews where I have not had this problem and I will not be returning to MSH, although I was excited to find a new spot. I did not appreciate being made to feel like we were children who’d been caught causing trouble. Overall, I am disappointed that this is what my partner will remember about our evening out and her time in Matthews.

Limited food options (you order at the food truck or the window). Fries are an interesting cut and quite good, burgers are....adequate but disappointing when it's the only option.

Tons of drink options (and a full bar).

Expansive outdoor space and room for little ones to wander.

The Team here is amazing. It is a great place for your kids to run around on the weekend with the turf and the attached ice cream area is awesome for the summer times!

I drove 30 minutes to this place bc google said they served food until a certain time and had a bar. I was turned away over an hour before closing time posted. I understand closing a restaurant early on slow nights but adjust your info so customers don't have to do the same as I did. I gave 2 stars instead of zero bc reviewers seem to like it and I didn't want to kill the rating. I'll visit again and hopefully things go better.

The beer here is more expensive than even in the South End. I thought the people at bar seem really unfriendly and had a cold atmosphere. It also doesn't appear they have any food despite them advertiing they do. I had one beer and I don't think I will ever return.

I stopped by MSH after my Sunday league soccer game … we took a 6-0 beating, but man did this place fix me right up. Beers were ice cold. Food was incredible - one of the best pub burgers that I have EVER had in my life. Wow - just WOW. And the fries were also amazing! Riley and Jacko behind the bar were stellar! This place is a great addition to the area. Do yourself a favor and go check them out. -Marco
