Yeah, that's a 5/5 😍
WOAH! I came into this place very suspect of just the modern lame taco shop interior that must be a result of new management at some point. However, this beef was DIVINE, easily on par with Johnnie's as someone who thought North Ave would simply be Johnnie's stomping grounds.

This is every single aspect a beef should be perfected. Deeply spiced and just thicker than a sheet of paper. The bread choice is also perfect and held up to the sheer amount of juice, no problem, as well as carrying that juice flavor in every bite without adding off flavors. I'm sure toppings are great, but this skinny dipped beef alone places this as my new #1 knocking Johnnie's (EP) down to 2nd. Being cheaper and taking card also helps.

That being said, i haven't tried anything else here yet.

Parking can be funky due to North Ave and the way Oak Park Ave shifts.
Outdoor exterior and interior aren't super cohesive in terms of visuals.
Interior is massive for its little parking lot.
Pleasant enough staff and CHEAP well, unless you want to add a fry because nothing comes with a fry and they plaster it all over the menu. Will be back for sure to try some variations and other items.

If you’ve come here before, you know that service is not the friendliest but I didn’t really care since it’s just a grumpy guy. I kept going because of the flavor of the food. But today is my last time!
Ordered beef and sausage combo. Not until I get home and have a couple bites do I realize the sausage is not fully cooked. Soft and red inside 🤢 Tried to call to complain- no answer, maybe to even save the next customer. I went at a busy time, which is absolutely not an excuse because Johnnie’s would never…

My first time so I wasted to try their hot dog and fries. Keep it simple. The dog was made right and the taste was good. The service is mediocre at best. I didn't like that they over charged me for my hot drug and fries. The menu read $7 and some change for the combo. I didn't want the combo just the food. But the guy said he made a mistake. Well it's the little things that matter to me so it'll be my last visit. There's other places with better food that's isn't so costly and will not over charge you. Best wishes with your establishment, need to work on service and you'll have something solid.

I wrote a previous review but had to delete it after my most recent experience. First off let me say the food is great and it's really one of the only things for me that would make me go back (which is now far few and between visits). The owner is beyond rude. It's him and his low level customer service and Debbie Downer attitude that drives his own business down. Many customers, like myself, pay attention to customer service, how you treat your staff (which to me the cooks are treated poorly by him), the cleanliness of the establishment, prices, etc which determines whether or not you spend your hard earned $ and if you would return. Mind you the prices are already high and according to the owner will go up Jan. 1st. So yeah Michael's use to be a must stop for me and its now become a place I just pass up and that's mainly because of the owner and service.

The fries are great and love the potato skin fires. The hot dog is just as simple nothing too special about it. The cheeseburger was good, just good. Will try the beef next time I go. A little pricey for the food, but it was an average experience.

Awesome beefs and fresh cut fries! Giardinara has the right amount of heat. The prices are great and food comes out quick. The employees were not rude like other people posted, but they are not friendly either. Just kinda there and nobody smiles. But, who cares the food is great!

I lived in Oak Park when I was growing up. Back then I went to Michael's atleast once a week. Having moved away nearly 2 decades ago I have missed the wonderful food Chicago has to offer, but I've missed none more tham Michael's cheese fries. When I walked in and saw all the changes they have made to the decor and additions to the menu I was worried my favorite food of all time might have changed. That fear melted away with the very first bite. I love the new look and still love the food. Thank you Michael's.

My trainer and I stopped in for the two hotdogs meal - food was definitely delicious and service was absolutely amazing. They are super fast with your order and I loved the mom and pop feel of the restaurant. Will frequent them more often.
