For dinner on a weekday, decided to try some authentic local foods and ordered a curry pork chop rice dish. It was very unique, the mildly spicy curry paired well with the crisp pork cutlet and warm fluffy rice and stewed Asian vegetables. Great textures. The rest of the items were a bit like pub food , ie chicken wings and chips. HOWEVER, the food took ages to arrive- 20 minutes. I observed that customers around us also waited the same time to get their food. That was when I saw 2 guys in the open kitchen cooking for an entire restaurant of customers! Poor fellas on their feet all evening, without a break , doing all the food preparation. They were simply working non-stop, Surely the restaurant should get at least an extra staff to help out? Unlikely to return if the restaurant isn't going to take staff welfare into consideration.

Had a quick dinner here. Seats readily available and free seating. I ordered thru the QR code on the table. But have to go to the counter to pay before the food is prepared. This part I find a bit troublesome and may easily missed if you didn’t see the message. Then collection is self service. And the return of the plates is also self served. Other than that the Chee Cheong fun in curry gravy is great and the environment is very clean.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Hainan Story Coffeehouse, and I must say, it was an absolute delight! The food was incredibly delicious, and I'm already craving my next visit.

The standout dishes for me were:

- The Chicken Chop: Tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked, with a sauce that complemented it flawlessly.
- Adam Curry Noodle: Rich, flavorful, and utterly satisfying.
- Chee Chong Fun: Silky smooth and deliciously savory.
- Nan Ru Pork: Absolutely amazing, with a depth of flavor that left me wanting more.

And let's not forget the beverages! The coffee and tea were both fantastic, with a perfect balance of flavors.

Overall, I highly recommend The Hainan Story Coffeehouse for anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying meal in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Can't wait to come back!

Another Big Bite

I was introduced to the braised pork belly rice and it was delicious! The meat is braised till well flavored, the must have Hainanese curry sauce, vegetable & fried egg complete the meal. The waffles with generous gula melaka kaya is generally sweet. Will be back to try the many Hainanese favorites.

We enjoyed our experience dining in here! The food quality is good, loved the variety of local foods & drinks. Curry Chee Cheong Fan & Nutella Waffles were my favourite! The staff was really helpful when he saw people struggling with ordering from the QR code. Definitely will come back again.

After a few times coming here, always disappointed with their curry rice, looks amazing but tastes mediocre. The coffee, bread and western really makes me love it though! Western food was fried crispy and fresh. Bread was super generous with buttery fresh goodness!

Very disappointed.. we had almost the same dishes at Jewel that day and craving for more we came here today but this branch at Chinatown point is a TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT.. the quality & appearance of food is below average. Hainan toast bread out of stock even if we opt for normal bread it came in a horrible appearance. At jewel we get to apply the jam our own here it’s all done. The curry chicken rice was swamped with very diluted gravy which I believe from the veggie and spoilt the curry’s taste. Even after finish the curry rice the remaining water can drown a fly, check out the pictures. Even the hainan signature drink is diluted and doesn’t have the same taste as jewel. It’s time for the Management of this food brand to wake up and QA check your food quality across branches. We are not coming here again. NEVER!

I have always wanted to dine in Hainan Story. When I chanced upon this newly open outlet, I went in immediately. There are many food choices on the menu and I wanted to try EVERYTHING! Food did not disappoint. But I must say the self service workflow needs improvement. Food dishes were ready at different times, and we found ourselves going back and forth between our table and the pick up counter several times. And when other diners are doing the same thing, it becomes quite chaotic and annoying.
